- Referee assignments are done by the leagues during the week.
- Our MCYSA area referee assignor usually sends an email by Weds each week, listing the referees for the upcoming games.
- For MNJYSA, our League Contact (LC - Paul Sangimino) emails the league referee assignor which games we have that week and he sends the referees (we never know who they are before they show up).
- For MCYSA, the referees are supposed to confirm contact details by email to the clubs LC and FS (John Bacso and Martina Sangimino).
- In the case of games then being canceled and/or moved prior to or on game day, the MCYSA LC (John Bacso) will get in touch with the referees who acknowledged to let them know about changes/cancellations.
- Field usage/preparations.
- Field coordinators (FC) are Tom Ford and Chris Tolkin.
- Fields need to be set up prior to the season and checked every week based on the schedule.
- The referee emails above give a good idea of which fields are in use on the coming weekend but the league websites can also be checked ahead of time. You can look at league schedules by Club on both the www.mcysa.org and www.mnjysa.org websites. As a courtesy to the FC, the LC’s can forward the referee emails to them.
- Game Day (Usually Sunday but similar applies to any day the club has home game(s) scheduled).
- 7:30am – about 9am – Field Inspections (Tom and Chris). In case of any question or doubt about field conditions and whether to close field (Carol Nauta may have already decided the day or night before or sometime early Sunday morning) sometimes it’s a judgment call over the phone with Carol on the Sunday morning.
- In case a field is closed, the FC’s must inform the Field Schedulers (Martina Sangimino, Maureen Carini) who must then notify the league (by 10am, via website for MCYSA, via Paul for MNJYSA) and also get in touch with the Parent Managers (PM) of the CU teams involved, and also John Bacso so he can notify Referees as in 1.4 above. In case John is not reachable via email then he can be contacted by cell phone (listed below).
- The FC’s and FS’s must work together (with Carol as required) to determine if another home field can be used.
- The CU PM’s should be informed that their field is closed/moved and then they must contact their own team and opponent to inform them accordingly. If there is no field to play in Chatham then their obligation is to try and play at opponent’s field. If playing at the opponent’s field, the opponent’s should organize a new referee with their club and the emergency referee assignor (ERA) Kevin Eitel.
- If another Chatham Field is not available that day then every effort must be made to play the game away (these are league rules). In case of games not played, they must be rescheduled according to league guidelines.
