Please read carefully as the rules are followed strictly.
The Tryouts process comprises three parts:
A: Registration (Online registration of players and payment of fee, plus submission of hardcopy forms):
(i) Online registration and credit card payment will commence on/or about April 11th.
You MUST register your child in order to attend the tryouts. No walk-ins on the day of the tryout will be accepted.
For U9 to U14 players, online registration and payment should be done on the Club’s website
www.chathamunited.org and
must be completed by April 26, 2011. A late fee of $30-35 (dependent upon player’s age) will be assessed for
late registration April 27th through
April 29th. No registrations will be accepted after
April 29th.
For U8 Academy players, online registration and payment should be done on the Club’s website
www.chathamunited.org and
must be completed by May 10, 2011. A late fee of $30-35 (dependent upon player’s age) will be assessed for
late registration May 11th through
June 1st. No registrations will be accepted after
June 1st.
Note that all tryouts will be listed by age group for the Fall 2011/Spring 2012 season (e.g. if your child is currently playing on a U8 team, they should attend the U9 slot, if your child is currently U12, they should attend the U13 tryout). Here is the complete table:

** Please note:
Chatham United teams are usually age-based, using the table above. However, the club, League and State rules allow for players to “play up” at the next or a higher age level. In such cases where a player wishes to try out for an older team, they should indicate this on the registration forms and during online registration. A player will only be eligible for selection to the age level that they try out for. For example, a player who is eligible for U11 by age and who tries out for U12, can only be placed on a U12 team (if selected). In circumstances where there are not enough players to make up a full team at a certain age group the club will endeavor to make up a team from eligible players who tried out regardless of the age they tried out for.

Registration fees are $150 for U8 Academy Program, $245 for U9-U10 and $265 for U11-U14. *
- Included in all registration fees is a $35.00 non-refundable charge for the tryouts and administration.
- Please note that the registration fee will not cover costs for your child’s participation in CU.
- For the U8 Academy Program You should expect additional costs of $350 - $450 for the fall and spring season combined depending on the total number of participants.
- For travel teams (U9 - U14), you should expect additional costs of $400-$800 per child per season (or more) depending on the activity level of the team. Actual costs will depend mainly on the frequency of team practices and participation in tournaments. Most expenses will be for the cost of your team’s professional trainer.

(ii) Submission of hardcopy forms - The following required paperwork must be completed in hard copy and delivered to the address indicated below.
The following must be submitted before April 30th. Please do NOT bring paperwork to the tryouts. These forms are required for every player by NJYS.

2) S.A.G.E. (set a good example) Form
3) Medical Release Form (MUST BE NOTARIZED)
4) Copy of Birth Certificate (MUST BE A COPY)
5) 1”x 1” Photo of Child (MUST BE ON PHOTO PAPER)

B: Player Tryouts:
Please note:
• Players must attend all sessions scheduled for their age group
• We are not accepting WALK-INS at the tryouts. If a player has not been registered online, he or she will not be able to try out
• All tryout sessions will be conducted by Sports Domain Academy (SDA). Parents are requested to wait either in the parking lot or in the indoor lounge at Copper Springs if they choose to stay at the facility during their child’s tryout session.

TRYOUTS CHECK-IN WILL BEGIN 15 minutes prior to start of tryout. Each session as listed above.
For U8 Academy players, there will be an open information and play session conducted by SDA and Chatham United Directors of Coaching on Saturday, May 14 at Copper Springs, time to be announced.
Tryout Day Logistics
Please arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled starting time. Upon arrival, look for a volunteer from the Club to check-in and receive your child’s tryout number, which should be placed in a clearly visible location. The tryout number will be used for BOTH tryouts so please keep it after the first tryout and remember to bring it to the second.
Bring a bottle of water, shin guards and cleats. Please do NOT bring a ball and, if your child is already a member of CU, do NOT wear a club uniform. Children will be identified only by number during the tryout process.
If the weather is poor on the day of your tryout, please check the www.chathamunited.org website for any potential notice of cancellation.
For the consideration of all players, please do not attempt to communicate with or encourage your child during tryouts. This could result in confusion for all children who are trying out and potential disruption for the tryout evaluators. We ask you to remain away from the fields while the sessions are being conducted and thank you in advance for your cooperation. Finally, please be sure to pick up your child promptly at the scheduled end of the tryout session.
C: Team Selection - (At end of Spring 2011 Season).
Chatham United works hard to make this process as transparent, fair and efficient as possible. The process and policies are laid out in our Handbook, a new copy of which will be found on our website.
* Registration Refund Policy
Refunds will be issued as follows:
- A full refund will be issued if a child registers then chooses not to attend tryouts, and informs Chatham United in writing 7 days before the first day of tryouts. If notification is less than 7 days, a refund minus the $35 tryout fee will be given.
- A full refund of the registration fee (less the $35 tryout fee) will be issued in the event that a child attends tryouts but (A) is either not offered membership or (B) chooses to withdraw from consideration for membership before June 15th, 2011.
- No refunds will be issued for any portions of fees (other than in the case of medical reason or relocation prior to the start of the fall season, as documented in writing to the Membership Committee) after June 15th, 2011.
- Fees are non-refundable in any portion, once the fall season commences, as defined by the first practice (usually held in the final week of August or the week proceeding Labor Day).
